PRELIMINARY RECORDS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATE THE
MONTH OF APRIL WAS QUITE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE TRI STATE IN THE
MID OHIO VALLEY...AND THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN COUNTIES OF WEST
VIRGINIA.

IN THE OHIO VALLEY...HUNTINGTON MEASURED 6.51 INCHES OF TOTAL PRECIPITATION
FOR APRIL 2014. THAT WAS THEIR 7TH WETTEST APRIL ON RECORD. NORMAL
RAINFALL FOR HUNTINGTON IN APRIL IS AROUND 3.4 INCHES.

IN CONTRAST...ELKINS WEST VIRGINIA MEASURED ONLY 1.94 INCHES OF
TOTAL PRECIPITATION DURING THE WHOLE MONTH OF APRIL. THAT TIES
APRIL OF 1919 FOR THE 8TH DRIEST APRIL ON RECORD IN ELKINS. NORMAL
TOTAL PRECIPITATION DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL IS 3.8 INCHES IN
THAT TYGART RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITY.
