...July Brought 100-Degree Days and a Drying Trend...

Summer conditions were in full swing for the month of July. Above
normal temperatures and sporadic rainfall led to drying conditions
west of the Brazos River north of the Interstate 10 corridor.
Elsewhere below normal rainfall was felt at many locations; although,
there were isolated pockets of above normal monthly rainfall.

Across most of the reporting sites, the temperatures exceeded the
average normal by 1 to 8 degrees. July started with just above normal
temperatures. These heated up towards the middle part of the month so
that by the last week of July six out of the eleven first- and second-
order climate sites recorded 100-degree days. The remaining inland
sites recorded their monthly highs of 98 and 99 degrees. Here is a
listing of the 100-degree days which occurred at the six sites:

College Station:
- 100 on the 15th, 20th, 23rd, 26th, and 27th
- 102 on the 28th
- 104 on the 29th

Intercontinental Airport:
- 100 on the 29th

Hobby Airport:
- 100 on the 28th
- 102 on the 29th

DW Hooks Airport:
- 100 on the 29th

Sugar Land:
- 100 on the 29th

Pearland:
- 100 on the 20th
